During the COVID-19 pandemic, I often felt lonely and quickly grew bored with activities like watching movies and sketching. However, I discovered a passion for reading, which has since become a beloved pastime. Reading an engrossing, mind-twisting book with dynamic characters and mind-blowing plot twists brought—and still brings—me indescribable comfort, especially during times when I struggle to stay interested in studying. The little boost I get from reading each day made me think about the various ways reading can benefit mental health, especially for young people. Reading is a relatively inexpensive and accessible hobby that offers tremendous benefits.
